Sensei (instructor) Trance from NY began his martial arts training at age 12. One aspect of the school which drew Sensei Trance in was the fact that judo was part of the curriculum. For the next 7 years Sensei Trance would train 4-6 days a week. He started working part time at the school as an assistant instructor while still a brown belt then soon began working full time as an instructor, program manager and team coach. In 1984 Sensei Trance earned his Shodan (1st degree black belt).
